WHEN A CHRISTIAN SINS
By Sean Dietrich

God is faithful to convict us of our sins. But he loves us too.

Sometimes we as Christians can feel the disgust of our unrighteousness as a heavy weight. What some people do is pray a prayer of forgiveness, and promise to never do it again. Others are constantly bombarded with a steady flow of guilt and shame. We try to let go of our wicked practices, but quickly find that we can’t. We, like Paul, are trapped in Romans 7. Woe is me!

The truth is, we were never told to let go of our sins only. No one can let go of a flesh-rooted habit that has its very life in the human body. God wants us to let go of our human side altogether.

NOT SO PURE WATER

Once a bowl of pure water is contaminated with dark food coloring, we can no longer separate the food coloring from the water. The water and the food coloring have become one. The food coloring has tainted every millimeter of the water, and there is no longer any purity. No matter how hard we try, we cannot rid our bowl of water from the darkness of the food color. The only way to get clean water is to throw away both the water and the food coloring and fill up the bowl with some new water.

Romans 6:7…for he who has died is freed from sin.

JUST DIE WILL YA?

Dying to ourselves is something that we all must do in order to be freed. It is also something Paul said that he died daily in 1Cor 15:31. Slowly, God will rid us of our human weaknesses as we grow deeper in love with him.
